Loving Kindness (Metta) Meditation

The word Metta, is often translated as Lovingkindness. This practice of metta meditation can be used as an antidote to judgment and criticism, either towards ourselves, in the form of shame and humiliation, or towards others, through emotional states such as anger, animosity or resentment. Whenever we feel stressed, uptight, anxious or hostile, we do not feel safe. In this meditation, we repeat soothing affirmations and phrases, to open our hearts to feelings of kindness and love, settle the nervous system, and invite a sense of healing into our being.

Sensing into the Lower Abdomen

Sensing into the Lower Abdomen Meditation

This guided practice begins with progressive relaxation as you lie on the floor training your muscles to soft. Next we imagine breathing from the lower abdomen while lying. Once you get a somatic sense of this, you can transfer this breathing to other postures.
